Collection: Hawaiian Petroglyphs
Hawaiian Petroglyphs are rock carvings found along the coastlines and lava fields of the Hawaiian Islands. The ancient Hawaiians carved images of men, women, animals and spirits as part of communication and their religious rites. Ancient Hawaiians did carve many pictures into rock to document an event or occasion - known as ki'i pohaku (ki'i = image, pohaku = rock). You can still find evidence of this practice today on all the islands.
